Reporting and gifting at the Patanjali annual conference
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Research Institute in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. This was followed by a press conference today at the Constitutional Club in Delhi, where the businessman-baba spoke on Patanjali’s growth and performance in the last financial year. He also announced “mega plans, targets and strategies” for the future.
What’s more interesting, though, is what followed after the presser. A journalist with Indian Express tweeted out a video of scribes scrambling for Patanjali goodies, or “media sampling kits”. Now, most organisations do give out “press kits” after press conferences. But the, errr, rush to claim it here is a bit uncharacteristic, to say the least.
We really want to know what’s in that sample kit, though.
