FB Live: Bhim Army’s Jantar Mantar protest
On Sunday, Delhi’s Jantar Mantar turned into a sea of blue, when thousands of Dalit youths joined hands to raise their voice against the inter-caste violence that took place in Saharanpur on May 5.
During the protest—probably the biggest Dalit rally that has happened in Delhi over the last decade—Bhim Army leader Chandrashekhar ‘Ravan’ announced that he would surrender to the Uttar Pradesh police later that day. Chandrashekhar, also, handed over his organisational responsibilities to four of his loyalists.
Moreover, Chandrashekhar received support form the Una movement leader Jignesh Mevani, while Dalits vowed to hold a nation-wide protest, if appropriate actions are not taken against those responsible for the May 5 incident.
