Alwar: Police give clean chit to six accused in Pehlu Khan’s lynching

The Rajasthan Police have give clean chits to all the six people, of which three were linked to Hindu right-wing organisations, named by Pehlu Khan before his death in a mob attack in April.

Khan was transporting cows from a Jaipur market to his home in Nuh, Haryana, when he was lynched by alleged cow vigilantes near Rajasthan’s Alwar, depsite having the necessary permit to transport the cows for his dairy business.

The six men were released based on the statements of a cow shelter’s staff as well as mobile phone records, Hindustan Times reported.

The staff of the cow shelter, Rath Gaushala, has maintained that the six — Om Yadav (45), Hukum Chand Yadav (44), Sudhir Yadav (45), Jagmal Yadav (73), Naveen Sharma (48) and Rahul Saini (24) — were present on their premises, about four-km from the attack site, at the time of the attack. The gaushala is patronised by Jagmal Yadav, the HT report stated.

The Crime Investigation Department-Crime Branch that was probing Khan’s killing by aeged cow vigilantes had sent its findings to the Alwar police, asking them to remove the aforementioned six men from the list of accused in the case.

The development has angered Khan’s family members, who said they heard the accused call out each other by their names during, HT reported. So far seven arrests have been made in the case.
