#AarushiVerdict: Talwars yet to be released from Dasna Jail

A day after their acquittal by the Allahabad High Court, Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, parents of 14-year-old Aarushi Talwar, who was found murdered in her house in Noida, are yet to be released from Ghaziabad’s Dasna jail.

Speaking to the media about the initiation of the release process, Dasna jailor D Maurya was quoted as saying that the proceedings can only be started once the orders are received. Tanveer Mir, Talwar’s family lawyer, nevertheless, told the media that the dentist could be released by approximately 4 pm.

Pushpa Sharma, security in-charge at Dasna Jail, spoke about Nupur’s conduct in jail. Sharma was quoted by News18 as saying that she [Nupur] never fought or argued with anyone.

The Talwars who were convicted of double murder and sentenced to life were acquited after four years. The judgement stated: “The learned trial Judge has prejudged things in his own fashion, drawn a conclusion by embarking on erroneous analogy conjecturing to the brim on apparent facts telling a different story.” The judgement added: “The learned trial Judge took evidence and the circumstances of the case for granted.”
