CBI busts international child porn racket run on WhatsApp group
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has claimed to have busted an international child porn racket. On Thursday, the agency said it has registered a case against five persons running a WhatsApp group as well as its 114 members for circulating messages relating to child pornography.
According to news agency ANI, the CBI is conducting searches at three locations in Delhi, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
Nikhil Verma, a 20-year-old unemployed graduate, has been arrested by the CBI. He was allegedly one of the administrators of the group named “Kids XXX”. Verma, a resident of UP’s Kannauj district, will be brought to Delhi on transit remand.
According to reports, Mumbai resident Satyendra Chauhan, Delhi residents Nafis Raza and Zahid, and one Adarsh from Noida are other suspects in the racket.
The agency said pornographic material was uploaded on the group, which has members from foreign countries including Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Brazil, United States and Kenya.
The CBI is likely to share details of the foreign nationals with their respective countries to get action initiated against them.
