#AAPology: Jaitley accepts Kejriwal & Co’s sorry letter

Arvind Kejriwal and his fellow AAP leaders finally apologised to Union minister Arun Jaitley in a letter on Monday – an apology that was accepted by the minister.

The Delhi chief minister has been on an apology spree for quite some time but the question was whether he – along with AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, party spokesperson Ashutosh, and leaders Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpai – would say sorry to Jaitley, who had filed a defamation case seeking damages of Rs 10 crore from each of them.

The AAP leaders had levelled serious allegations against Jaitley while speaking about alleged financial irregularities in the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) in December 2015.

Kejriwal, addressing Jaitley in the letter, said the charges made by him were found to be “unwarranted” and that he was “clearly misinformed into making these allegations”. The AAP chief also told the minister “I believe that we should end the unsavoury litigations between us.”

According to reports, sidelined AAP leader and poet Kumar Vishwas has refused to apologise in the DDCA case. Sources said the AAP leaders tried to convince Kumar but to no avail.
This makes it Kejriwal’s fourth apology – tendered in a row. The AAP has maintained that it is a “legal strategy” to avoid pending court cases so that the leadership can focus on Delhi’s governance.

The Delhi CM recently apologised to Union minister Nitin Gadkari, Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia and advocate Amit Sibal in response to defamation cases filed by them. The apology tendered to Majithia had triggered factionalism in the party’s Punjab unit.
