Pulitzer 2018: Two Indian photojournalists win awards for covering Rohingya crisis

Two Indian photojournalists Danish Siddiqui and Adnan Abidi have won the Pulitzer Prizes for covering the Rohingya crisis. Siddiqui, a photographer with Reuters, captured an image of a refugee who is seen pulling a child while walking to the shore as they cross the Bangladesh-Myanmar border. Abidi, his colleague, won the award for an image of a Rohingya father’s hand on his son, Mohammed Shoaib, who was shot in his chest before crossing the border from Myanmar in August. As per news reports, in the field of reporting, Reuters won the prestigious award for international reporting.

The New York Times won three Pulitzer Prizes — Public Service: ‘Harassed,’ National reporting: Trump and the Russians and Editorial Cartooning: ‘Welcome to the New World’. For Public Service: ‘Harassed,’ NYT, along with The New Yorker won the award for voicing sexual harassment cases by men who are in powerful positions such as Harvey Weinstein.
