In Pictures: #AtalBihariVajpayee’s final journey

On August 16, AIIMS declared that former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee passed away at 5.05 pm.  

Atal Bihari Vajpayee had been admitted in AIIMS for the past 9 weeks. His mortal remains were shifted to his residence, 6, Krishna Menon Marg.

BJP president Amit Shah said, on Thursday night, that the Indian politics has lost its “Ajatashatru”.

Several Chief Ministers including those from Opposition parties assembled at former PM’s residence to pay homage to his mortal remains. An emotional Naveen Patnaik, Odisha CM, shared his views as he left Vajpayee’s residence.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee remembered how the first national president of the BJP was acceptable across the party lines. She said, “We stood with him even when his government was in danger.”

Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das said that Vajpayee was “janak” of three states – Jharkhand, Uttrakhand and Chhattisgarh.

The mortal remains of ABV was shifted to BJP HQ, on DDU Marg, where several Chief Ministers, political leaders and supporters paid homage.

The mortal remains of the former PM leave the BJP HQ for the final journey. Thousands of BJP supporters and those who loved Vajpayee thronged on the streets on DDU Marg in Delhi.
