#SurgicalStrike2 as reported by TV media
It’s going to be a busy news day with reports of the Indian Air Force carrying out Surgical Strikes Part 2 in Pakistan. Even as we awaited an official word and the exact details of the strike, the Indian television media has gone into a tizzy since the morning making varying source-based claims.
CNN News18 has stated that the strikes have killed 300 terrorists and also that Jaish-e-Mohammed’s biggest terror camps have been decimated. “This is the best possible hosh ka jawaab,” said anchor Bhupendra Chaubey.
India Today stated that National Security Advisor Ajit Doval coordinated the strikes. Anchor Gaurav Sawant did some predictions on what Pakistan may do following the strikes.
India TV noted that the operation lasted for 41 minutes with 21 minutes of bombardment. The channel also took the opportunity to praise Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A ticker on the channel read: “Modi hai toh dushman ko mitti main milana mumkin [it’s possible to destroy the enemy with Modi].”
Republic Bharat called it the biggest revenge. The channel also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in the operation room viewing the strikes and that he was aware of all the details of the operation.
At around 11:30 am, the Foreign Secretary stated that this was a ‘non-military preemptive strike’ at a Jaish camp in Balakot and that there were no civilian casualties. He also stated that there had been severe casualties at the Balakot terror camp including trainers, suicide bombers and Jaish cadres. More updates are likely to follow through the day.
