Former Outlook editor Krishna Prasad joins The Hindu group as company's first ever group editorial officer
The Hindu Group, which publishes the Hindu newspaper, has appointed Krishna Prasad as its first ever "group editorial officer". Prasad is the former editor-in-chief of Outlook magazine and editor of Vijay Times. He also runs the blogs Churumuri and Sans Serif on Indian journalism.
In a letter to employees of the company, Malini Parthasarathy, the chairman of the Hindu Publishing Group and former editor of the Hindu newspaper, said the role of group editorial officer was created to help them in their "ambitious journey towards the digital transformation of editorial operations". The officer will "coordinate with the editors of the various print publications and digital offerings on content strategy and management".
Parthasarathy noted that Prasad would "help us not only build greater synergy in our content offerings but help us raise the bar in building high quality journalism and widen our digital imagination".
His appointment, she said, was part of the company's attempt to transition from a "purely print publishing business" to a "content management and publishing business".
