Jammu and Kashmir police raid residences of four journalists: Media reports
The Jammu and Kashmir police raided the residence of four journalists today morning in Srinagar, the Kashmir Walla reported.
The report cited news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC), which said that the journalists whose homes were raided are Showkat Ahmad Matta, the editor in chief of Kashmir Narrator magazine, Azhar Qadri, Hilal Mir with TRT Turkey, and Abbas Shah.
KDC was informed by a police official that the raids were in connection with a case registered last year about a blog called "Kashmir Fight". Accordingto Greater Kashmir, the police had claimed that the blog had uploaded and circulated "some propaganda material" with the aim of "disrupting peace" and "provoking common people for illegal activities".
A police statement in October last year had said: "These posts uploaded on the said URL are prejudicial to the integrity, sovereignty of country and maintenance of peace and tranquility as the handler of the above said URL is propagating secessionist and militant related ideology with the intention to achieve goal of separating UT of J&K from Union of India."
