In 2015, the Modi government launched India's most ambitious scheme till date with an ambitious target: the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The objective was to provide housing to all by 2022.

As the deadline approached, it became clear that the target might just be too impossible to achieve. So, the Modi government did what it does best: present data in palatable ways. Now, with a year to go, multiple problems have cropped up with the scheme, with some beneficiaries getting scammed left, right and centre.
