Reporters Without Orders Ep 206: How Goa votes, unemployment issues in Prayagraj
This week, host Basant Kumar is joined by Newslaundry’s Nidhi Suresh and Shivangi Saxena.
Nidhi, who is reporting on the assembly election in Goa, talks about how Goans “vote for a personality, not a party”. Her report on women’s issues covered how Goa has more women voters than men but their representation in politics is still a problem. “There are 301 candidates [across] all the parties,” she says, “and only 27 women candidates.”
Shivangi, who is in Uttar Pradesh with Akanksha Kumar for the election, explains her report from Prayagraj. She talks about the state of unemployment, saying, “Students are so frustrated. Just saying we will roll out more government jobs or just bringing out application forms is no longer enough for them.”
This, and a lot more as they talk about what made news, what didn’t, and what shouldn’t have.
Tune in.
