Reporters Without Orders Ep 207: Punjab’s unemployed youth, Delhi’s anganwadi workers’ protest
This week, host Akanksha Kumar is joined by Newslaundry’s Ashwine Kumar Singh and Tanishka Sodhi.
Ashwine, who is in Punjab covering the assembly election, talks about his report on unemployment in Doaba. He also explains how a large part of the state’s population moves abroad, while drug abuse has impacted a majority of the youth left behind.
Tanishka talks about her report on the anganwadi workers’ protest in Delhi, explaining that they’re demanding an increase in honorarium and to be recognised as government employees instead of volunteers. “They don’t mind doing the hard work,” she says, “but they want dignity in their work.”
This and a lot more as they talk about what made news, what didn’t, and what shouldn’t have.
Tune in.
