But when Newslaundry visited Mau, several traders alleged that a particular community had been targeted in an unlawful manner under the pretext of action against gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari; several others refused to talk. Ansari features repeatedly in the BJP’s campaign speeches, but will that strike a chord with voters?
