After the murder of Jitendra Meghwal, a Dalit health worker, local activists have written to the administration in Rajasthan’s Pali, requesting that certain boards – declaring villages as dominated by a particular upper caste – be taken down. Are there any caste atrocities in such areas in Rajasthan? What is the role played by the police and the courts?
