TV Newsance 181: Ranveer Singh’s ‘bum’ makes it to primetime

Believe it or not, Ranveer Singh’s nude shoot made it to primetime TV news discussion this week. Sudhir Chaudhary, now on Aaj Tak, wondered about the actor’s majboori, while giving us gyaan on sanskaar. We also catch him repeating his show theme from Zee News: in the span of a month he has explained to his viewers on Zee and Aaj Tak the subtle difference between the surnames Ghandy and Gandhi, and why the “Gandhi parivar” is not related to Mahatma Gandhi.

On Aaj Tak’s sister concern, India Today, Shiv Aroor took the opposite position to Sudhir’s over Ranveer’s photoshoot. Both Aaj Tak and India Today, however, hosted the most bizarre debate between Anveshi Jain and Sherlyn Chopra. Everyone from NDTV to Times Now basically had a ‘bum’ blast at Ranveer’s expense.

We also look at Alt News cofounder Mohommed Zubair’s release from jail, and why the Supreme Court’s order giving him bail is welcome for journalists in India. Taking a cue from Aroor’s comparison of Zubair and suspended BJP spokeswoman Nupur Sharma, we do a bit of comparing ourselves.
