TMR 2022
What reality TV says about us
Does what we see on TV reflect real life? What about reality TV?
Not everyone may be Kim Kardashian, but reality TV does to an extent reflect on everyday experiences, social topographies and realities like gender, race, class and sexuality.
In this session, Manisha Pande of Newslaundry speaks with author Danielle J Lindemann about her book, True Story: What Reality TV Says About Us. They talk about how applying a sociological lens to reality TV allows us to understand and reflect on our own realities.
