Congress to stay away from Aman Chopra’s News18 show
The Congress party has said that none of its spokespersons will go on News18 India anchor Aman Chopra’s show henceforth.
The party’s head of media and publicity Pawan Khera said in a tweet that this will be the party’s “insignificant contribution in preventing the spread of poison in the society”.
Chopra is known to host incendiary debates on his News18 show Desh Nahi Jhukne Denge. See here, here, here, and here.
Notably, the last Chopra show on which a Congress spokesperson appeared was held on Tuesday. The anchor held a debate on the inauguration of the ‘Mahakal Lok’ by prime minister Narendra Modi in Ujjain.
Chopra had Radhika Khera from the Congress party as a panellist. Apart from her, there was BJP leader Manoj Tiwari, Baba Ramdev, Swami Dipankar and Acharaya Naval Kishore Das.
The anchor asked Radhika, “Before today, have there been images of any prime minister with the tripund in the temple doing worship?” In response the Congress spokesperson said, “Doing worship and prayer is a private thing.” She was promptly interrupted by Chopra, who doubled down on his question.
