TV Newsance 206: A ‘new normal’ at the India Today Conclave
Amirtpal Singh is still on the loose and R Bharat is going wild with all the graphics it can use on this news story. For the sake of the country and sanity on TV news, we sure hope he’s caught soon.
The big event this week was PM Modi speaking at the India Today Conclave. We take a look at how owners Aroon Purie and Kalli Purie gave a demo on how to sidle up to power. Their primetime anchor Sudhir Chaudhary couldn’t contain his excitement as PM Modi gave suggestions on how India Today could increase its TRPs. Hint: Give up on balance and show how ‘corrupt people’ are scared in the new regime.
While the India Today event was a lesson in how vapid a media conclave can be, the Ramnath Goenka Awards gave us everything we love and celebrate about public interest journalism.
