TV Newsance 214: Manipur violence and Odisha tragedy not as important as ‘gaming jihad’
Over the past week, 288 lost their lives in the Odisha train tragedy. The violence in Manipur continued, with a seven-year-old and two others, including his mother, being burned to death in an ambulance. Elsewhere in the state, a BSF jawan was killed.
But our TV news anchors decided to focus on something else – their latest invention, “game jihad”. We take you through all the madness.
Rubika Liyaquat, Anjana Om Kashyap and Arnab Goswami also devoted their primetime to their favourite Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and how evil he was, while Amish Tripathi called him an active member of the ‘sar tan se juda’ gang.
When the anchors did talk about Odisha, they focused on the tenures of previous railway ministers instead of the current one. Anand Narsimhan got a little too carried away and revealed his source.
