‘Not a medal for Modi, but badge of honour for us’: RJD’s Manoj Jha on unprecedented suspensions
After 14 suspensions last week, as many as 78 other Opposition MPs were suspended in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Monday amid disruptions. The Opposition has been demanding a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the security breach on December 13, , when two youngsters jumped from the public gallery into the Lok Sabha hall and opened smoke canisters.
Among those who were suspended was RJD’s Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha.
“Ninety-two suspensions mean you have emptied the Opposition’s section,” he told Newslaundry while speaking on the security breach, hurried legislation, and the Narendra Modi government’s legislative agenda.
“When dictatorships are worried, they want streets without protests and a Parliament without Opposition,” he said. “Congratulations Modiji. Your tenure has seen unprecedented suspensions. The word unprecedented is not a medal for you, but for us it is a badge of honour.”
