March from Shambhu stalled, 1 from Punjab dead
Protesters at Shambhu border tried to march to Delhi again on Wednesday but were unsuccessful with the Haryana police using tear gas shells to disperse them. As news about the death of a protester from Punjab’s Bathinda trickled in, the march was paused.
Media reports identified the deceased as Shubhkaran Singh, a farmer from Bathinda who reportedly died after violence near the Khanauri border point on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference at 7.30 pm, farm leader Sarwan Kumar Pandher spoke about the violence. “The plan to march to Delhi will be postponed for the next two days. We will hold a meeting and after that further strategy will be decided.”
