NL-TNM Townhall: Sreenivasan Jain on US poll coverage

Last year, we visited the US amid a heated poll campaign, days after reporting on the Israel-Hamas war. At the Townhall on December 5 last year, award-winning journalist Sreenivasan Jain and Newslaundry producer Priyali Dhingra responded to a wide range of questions from contributors who had supported this coverage.

What was the most unexpected observation in the US? Were there signs that Donald Trump would see such a favourable mandate? How much do swing states matter? What about the impact of the politician-industrialist nexus? In what way are political campaigns different in the US as compared to India?

The event saw many questions like these. It also served as a medium to share our views on what we do, how we do it and why we do it.
