Another Election Show: How safe do women feel in Delhi?

From subsidised public transport to scholarships for Dalit students, many poll promises in the run-up to Delhi assembly elections are aimed at young voters. But what do youngsters in the national capital think about this election and the performance of the AAP government?

To understand the concerns of young voters, Atul Chaurasia and Manisha Pande spoke to students at the Delhi University. Some pointed to the poor condition of mohalla clinics and roads, while others highlight that the only change healthcare facilities have seen is in terms of infrastructure.

“Especially on pollution, I don’t see any major changes. Every single year, it’s the same story,” says one student. “The metro pass has been discussed on campus for the last five years. Arvind Kejriwal has now spoken about it. But why was nothing done before,” asks another.

“What the AAP is doing in Delhi and Punjab is not too different from what the BJP is doing in the states it is governing.”
