Aaj Ka AQI: Environment ministry’s progress on cleaning India’s air
A recent report revealed that levels of particulate concentration in 33 cities covered under the National Clean Air Programme had shot up in the last financial year.
For this episode of Aaj Ka AQI, Newslaundry monitored the air quality outside the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change which launched NCAP five years ago. Under the programme, the ministry aims at reducing PM 10 concentration in 130 cities by 40 percent.
However, the air quality outside the ministry itself was in the ‘poor’ category, and concentration of particulate matter was way above the prescribed limit.
How has the ministry fared in achieving NCAP targets so far?
