HC judge recuses from BJP spokesperson’s defamation plea against Dainik Bhaskar
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav of Delhi High Court on Wednesday recused himself from hearing BJP spokesperson and senior advocate Nalin Kohli’s defamation suit against DB Corp Limited, which publishes Dainik Bhaskar, Bar and Bench reported.
“Mr Kohli in person is the plaintiff? It has to go to some other bench... how can I hear it,” the said, according to Bar and Bench.
Dainik Bhaskar has published a series of reports alleging a fake news industry targeting politicians.
Kohli has alleged that the media outfit had wrongly linked him to creation and distribution of fake news. The suit seeks Rs 2 crore as damages, removal of the allegedly defamatory content, and to prevent its further publication. In the interim, Kohli has sought a takedown of the content.
