Aaj Ka AQI
July 22, 2025: Despite heavy rain, AQI remains moderate
For this episode of Aaj Ka AQI, Newslaundry reached the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi – one of the country’s top educational institutions.
Despite a heavy downpour on Tuesday, the AQI of the areas surrounding JNU fell in the ‘moderate’ category. In RK Puram, the AQI was recorded at 127 (moderate), 140 in Katwaria, and 152 in Vasant Vihar.
Rainfall usually helps clear out pollutants, but not today. This raises concerns around the Delhi government’s cloud seeding trials in September this year, aimed at triggering artificial rain to combat pollution.
