Uttarakhand disaster: Why experts say it was not a cloudburst
Four days after flash floods wreaked havoc in the Dharali area of Uttarkashi, the cause of the incident remains elusive.
While initially its cause was said to be a cloud burst, experts are now questioning this theory.
According to the scientific definition, rain measuring 100 mm or more per hour is considered a cloudburst. But there has been no such confirmation in this area. Nor is there any metrological data available in support of this claim.
Experts say the recent incident in Uttarkashi does not seem like a cloud burst. In such a situation, the big question arises: what was the real reason for this disaster?
