Aaj Ka AQI
Oct 9, 2025: Is artificial rain an effective measure against pollution or a temporary relief?
For this episode of Aaj Ka AQI, Newslaundry visited the India Meteorological Department on Lodhi Road.
The AQI at the monitoring station installed at IMD read 77, which fell under the satisfactory category.
The IMD, along with IIT-Delhi, has collaborated to focus on artificial rain or cloud seeding. According to the Delhi government, a trial run for cloud seeding is expected to take place soon. Earlier, these trials were postponed due to unseasonal rain this week and last week.
What are the challenges and opportunities from this new initiative? Does it address sources of pollution or serve merely as a temporary relief?
