Hafta letters: Protecting paywalled videos, data centres, app glitches
Mohi
Hi guys, a long time ago, someone pointed out that you guys use YouTube as a platform to host all your videos, and anyone with the share link can watch them. I am referring to videos behind the paywall specifically.
Someone with only one monthly subscription can share the YouTube link with hundreds of people if they like. It literally takes 30 minutes with ChatGPT or Cursor to create a Telegram channel and a bot to do this automatically. Even IT cell dumbos, thanks to GPT-like tool accessibility.
Please protect your paywalled videos with a “members only” feature on YouTube. And introduce the same subscription model on YouTube, along with a join button. If you want to discourage YouTube join and not share a portion of revenue with Google, you can say that in the promotion. Or make it a bit more expensive through YouTube. Love you all, Mohi

Hi team, US tech companies are building data centres in India, just as they are in other countries. What puzzles me is the lack of opposition here. The same groups that once opposed dams for their environmental impact should be equally concerned, since data centres can deplete water resources and disrupt local lives. Yet there seems to be no public discourse. Am I missing something, or is there really no debate on this? If so, why do you think that is?

NL podcasts are part of my weekend routine. Keep it up, team. But why is the mobile app so bad? I have to restart the episodes every time I pause, and the UI experience is clunky and takes ages to load. Please fix this.

Hi, NL Hafta team. I had a recommendation for you: an article in Al Jazeera that I came across, and I thought it might interest you – "Our Story": A day in the life of a handwritten newspaper in Bangladesh.
Here is the link.
