What the RSS didn’t tell its New York guests

We all saw the images from Madison Square Garden. Thousands of people. An aarti. A packed hall. And RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat at the centre of it all.

On the surface, it looked like a big success for the RSS. But there was a problem. Some of the religious leaders invited to events around Bhagwat’s visit say they did not know what they were being invited to. And who they were being invited to stand alongside.

And the emails we reviewed suggest the same thing. These leaders were invited to what was presented as an interfaith gathering called One World, One Humanity. Absolutely no mention of the RSS. The guest-of-honour slot was left empty.
