TV Newsance 352 | Modi At 76: Ads, aura and unlimited bhakti
This week, the biggest event of the year has hit the godiverse: Modi ji has turned 76. Naturally, the celebrations will last an entire month, as the BJP has launched a month-long campaign, “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan,” because, well… why not? This campaign will witness reels, painting competitions, giant human rangolis and even a clean Yamuna. Turns out, the river wasn’t dirty. It was just waiting for the PM’s birthday!
But Modi ji has a bigger mission this year: winning over Gen Z with “aura”, “OG”, “flex” and GRWM videos. Bad news for WhatsApp uncles who spent years dutifully forwarding propaganda texts, only to be quietly dispatched to the Margdarshak Mandal.
BJP ministers, meanwhile, have discovered the viral ’80s trend. So we devised a little game of our own: can you tell which decade India’s most unbelievable headlines belong to? Watch the full episode to participate in the quiz. The answer may ruin the nostalgia.
Then there’s the godi media, which marked the birthday with tributes, songs and competitive levels of devotion. Newspapers turned into greeting cards, anchors queued up with wishes, and one birthday somehow produced more advertising than journalism.
And because we’ve just celebrated Modi ji’s birthday, we have a few offers of our own. The first 76 subscribers can get a special discount on their subscriptions. For hampers, non-subscribers get 25% off, and subscribers get 14% off on individual merchandise. Pick your poison, and support independent journalism while you’re at it.
