Muzaffarnagar: Hindu-Muslim marriage ends in murder

Khan and Kumari, who had relocated to Vishakhapatnam fearing a backlash from their families over their union, had returned to Bhokarhedi with their son Abdullah, after two years, to celebrate Eid.

While 22-year-old Naseem was on his way home, he was shot twice after he was beaten up with sticks after which he succumbed to his injuries.

The police have registered an FIR against Pinki’s father Rajesh, brother Pradeep, cousin Sonu, and another relative Nitu under Sections 302, 147, 148, 159 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.

Pinki, now Ayesha, had changed her name and converted to Islam after her court marriage with Naseem.

While Pinki’s parents’ house has been locked since Monday, she claims to have spoken to her brother in the afternoon. “It was not my husband’s fault. I had run away from my parent’s house,” Pinki said.

“I asked him [her brother] how could he not think of my one-year-old son while killing my husband. My brother said he would kill me and my son… I want them behind bars,” she said.
