Victims of PACL chit fund scam protest at Parliament street
Over 5,000 people from across India have come together to protest at Parliament Street, Newsclick reported. These people, primarily victims of the PACL chit fund scam, are asking for justice, the report stated.
PACL was a Ponzi scheme where funds were collected from people across the country through a collective investment scheme in the garb of sale and development of agriculture land.
Organised under the banner of India Unites, the protestors are demanding expedited refunds of Rs 49,1oo crores collected from over 5.85 crore families. The protestors are demanding that money be raised by disposing of PACL’s assets in accordance with the Supreme Court’s order.
This protest is part of a join agitation being held at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, from January 30 to February 7, 2019. You can read the full list of demands here.
