Modi and the Media: Love and loathing at a mega rally
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed thousands of Delhiites at the city’s Ramlila Maidan on May 8. The media, or the “Khan Market gang” in Mr Modi’s words, came out in droves to cover the “mega rally”.
Besides political festivities, the rally also witnessed an ugly scene where a BBC journalist was roughed up by a few BJP party workers. So Newslaundry’s Ayush Tiwari and Sucharita Ganguly talked to some people at the saffron-themed rally about the media, news and journalists: What do they think about the media? Which journalist do they like the most? Are there journalists they hate? Many of the responses, of course, were as expected.
Tune in to see for yourself.
