Last available Kashmir editions of English dailies is from Aug 5, Jammu dailies available
On August 5, the Indian government announced the scrapping of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution which gives special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Since that day, no Kashmir editions of English dailies such as Kashmir Reader, Greater Kashmir, and Kashmir Images have been available. Kashmir Vision‘s and Kashmir Observer‘s editions were last uploaded on August 4.
Papers under the Jammu division such as the Daily Excelsior and Kashmir Times have editions available all through August 5 to today.
Yesterday, the Daily Excelsior‘s headline read: “History re-written: Centre scraps Articles 370, 35-A; to bifurcate J&K into 2 UTs”. Today’s headline quotes Union Minister Amit Shah as saying, “PoK, Aksai Chin parts of J&K; will give our lives for them”. Kashmir Times‘ headline reads: “LS passes Art 370 scrap, J&K bifurcation”.
Greater Kashmir‘s Jammu edition is also available.
State Times‘ August 7 edition has a front-page anchor piece titled: “Because of rabid Kashmiri communalists, J&K lost its statehood”. Yesterday, its banner headline stated: “J&K Modi-fied; Article 370 scrapped”.
