Journalist Ravish Tiwari, chief of national bureau at Indian Express, passes away

Journalist Ravish Tiwari passed away in Delhi last night. He had been struggling with cancer.

Tiwari was the chief of Indian Express's national bureau. In a post on their website, the newspaper said Tiwari was 40 years old. Express Group's chairman Viveck Goenka described him as a "rare, unique voice in our profession" whose work "will be an enduring inspiration for the newsroom and beyond".

Indian Express chief editor Raj Kamal Jha was quoted as saying that Tiwari's "shoes cannot be filled but they shall sit in a very special corner of the newsroom for ever".

Multiple journalists posted tributes on Twitter.

Senior politicians also tweeted about Tiwari's death, including prime minister Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, and Congress MP Jairam Ramesh.
