This week we look at how social media rumours about a coup in China against Xi Jinping made it to TV news. A satirical thread on Twitter became breaking news on Republic Bharat. India TV and other Hindi news channels joined the fun and received international attention this week for giving airtime to absolute fake news.
Meanwhile, the home ministry banned the Popular Front of India and we look at how a purge in the name of national security was advocated by none other than Arnab Goswami.
