TV Newsance 249: TV news data is out! Godi media EXPOSED
This week, we have an exclusive for you. Newslaundry analysed the debates of six prominent TV news anchors and collated data on the themes of their primetime shows in the run up to the Lok Sabha election.
No surprises, as per the data, the anchors spent most of their time bashing the opposition and praising the dear leader. Amid this, our usual suspects also managed to play up Hindu-Muslim narratives.
Some anchors even had their own special tropes. We found Republic TV’s Arnab Goswami has a penchant for making personal remarks against Congress’s Rahul Gandhi, and Aaj Tak’s Sudhir Chaudhary doesn’t mind discussing “how it would be like to have an AI girlfriend” as primetime news. In all this, discussions on education, unemployment, and inflation remained missing.
