Uphill battle for Avadh Ojha despite Poorvanchali support for AAP
In the last election, the Patparganj assembly constituency was in the headlines due to the candidature of AAP leader Manish Sisodia. This time, Sisodia is contesting from another seat as the party has fielded Avadh Ojha, a former UPSC exam coach and motivational speaker-turned-politician.
The constituency is dominated by Poorvanchali and Pahadi voters. A substantial chunk of Purvanchali voters favour the AAP, but can Ojha win the seat, considering that Sisodia had managed to defeat BJP’s Ravi Negi with just around 4,000 votes the last time?
Negi is contesting again while the Congress has fielded Anil Chaudhary, a former MLA and president of the Congress’s Delhi unit.
Newslaundry tracked Ojha’s campaign for a day and spoke to locals in the area to understand what they think will matter in this election.
