Aaj Ka AQI
Feb 13, 2025: How breathable is the air at Delhi’s iconic India Gate?
For episode 26 of Aaj Ka AQI, Newslaundry visited India Gate to take stock of the Capital’s air quality.
The AQI reading at the nearest station was in the ‘moderate’ category. PM 2.5 level hovered around 50, while the air detector pegged PM 10 at around 58.
In 2024, Delhi witnessed 155 days of ‘poor’, ‘very poor’ and ‘severe’ air quality. A detailed analysis by the Centre for Science and Environment, released on January 6, revealed that the concentration of fine particulate matter, one of the most harmful pollutants, increased by 3.4 percent in Delhi in 2024 compared to 2023. But do the authorities plan to take some action and stop the city from becoming a gas chamber?
