Aaj Ka AQI
April 7, 2025: All is not well with Delhi’s pollution checking centres
For this episode of Aaj Ka AQI, Newslaundry visits a pollution checking centre that issues PUC certificates to vehicles in Delhi’s Green Park area. The air pollution reading meters showed that the PM 2.5 level hovered around 120 while PM 10 was around 140 in the area – much higher than the safe limit.
The latest CAG report has found faults with the way these privately-owned centres, mostly found at petrol pumps, have issued pollution under control certificates to vehicles.
