Oct 27, 2025: Data manipulated at Anand Vihar air monitoring station?
Amid allegations of data manipulation by Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bhardwaj, Newslaundry visited the air monitoring system in Anand Vihar to do a reality check.
The air quality index at 10 am stood at 431, which is in the “severe” category.
While there were no water-spraying trucks outside the pollution monitoring station today, the ground was still wet. About 50 metres away, near the Anand Vihar bus terminal, the driver of a water-spraying truck told us, “We’ve been instructed, since the video went viral, not to go there.”
There seemed to be a discrepancy in the PM 2.5 data. The display board at Anand Vihar showed 73 micrograms per cubic metre, while the Delhi Pollution Control Committee’s own website, which runs this monitoring system, showed 248 micrograms per cubic metre.
