Aaj Ka AQI
Nov 24, 2025: Ghaziabad chokes as AQI hits 600 on Delhi-Meerut expressway
Ghaziabad is among the most densely populated districts in the national capital region with a population of 3,700 every one square kilometre. For this episode of Aaj Ka AQI, we visited the Delhi-Meerut expressway in Ghaziabad, where the AQI was around 600, or in the hazardous category.
In 2020, a report by the Centre for Science and Environment stated that the reason for hazardous air quality in the district is the presence of 146 industrial units – 80 percent of them textile units – running on coal.
