TRP scam: Republic TV COO Priya Mukherjee gets anticipatory bail
A Mumbai sessions court on Friday allowed the pre-arrest bail application filed by Republic TV Chief Operating Officer Priya Mukherjee, reported Live Law. She is an accused in the TRP scam registered by the Mumbai police
The court directed Mukharjee to be “released on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 in case of an arrest and asked her to appear before the concerned police station once every week.”
On December 5, the sessions court had granted bail to Republic TV's assistant vice president, Ghanshyam Singh, who was arrested in the same case on November 10.
The network had previously approached the Bombay High Court and the Supreme Court, as well as the National Commission for Human Rights, with a petition asking for protection to all employees of Republic TV and Republic Bharat from coercive action by the Mumbai police. The plea was quashed by the Supreme Court, while the high court will hear the TRP case on December 14.
