Forgotten Flood

A flooded Kaziranga National Park. Since the first wave more than 700 animals have died. That includes more than 40 rhinos, the majority of whom have been poached.

Fringe villages of Kaziranga National Park in the last week of September. The entire park was a sheet of water. Houses were submerged in Golaghat district. 20 of Assam's 27 districts are still flood-affected.

To arrest erosion porcupine spars were set up in flood affected areas but the measure failed.

Relief food supply ready to leave for the submerged Majuli island. Even air-dropping didn't help. For weeks Majuli was cut off because ferry service was suspended.
