Hi Abhinandan and Team,

I am a regular paid subscriber of Newslaundry and love all your content. I will try to limit my word count on this email.

In view of the recent #MeToo movement in India, I have a few questions or confusions.

As of now, it is primarily limited to females coming out with their cases, but will it be possible to hear people from the LGBTQ community come out with their stories as well (parallel to the US reveal of Kevin Spacey). I ask this because members of the LGBTQ community probably face a lot of humiliation and condescension as it is, but the added weight of coming out with their stories might make it harder. I hope they do, but I feel it is a double-edged sword as it would require them to come out of the closet to say they were harassed instead of it being a moment of pride.

Also, in the Bollywood industry, there are a lot of actors/actresses lending their vocal support to the victims, but why don’t we see support coming out from them when there are alleged murderers/criminals in their own industry who are apparently contributing to the revenue (we all know who). Why does the #BelieveTheVictim not apply there?

Keep up the good work.

Regards,

Rohit Bhat

Dear Newslaundry Team,

I have been reading (or listening to) Newslaundry for about six months now and have been a subscriber for the past couple of months. I would like to contribute one appreciation and two suggestions.

Appreciations to your idea of dipping into your subscribers pool, as that ensures contribution from people who understand your and our idea of Newslaundry

The suggestions being:

  1. Public Policy: I absolutely enjoy whenever Meghnad is on but I do not think much public policy is discussed aside from landmark cases and laws of pertinence while there is more to public policy aside from the above.
  2. Economics: As someone from the field of finance, it would be great if you guys could have more on this topic with some of your guest contributors (referring to Vivek Kaul).

More power to you guys.

Regards,

Nishanth Vasisht.

P.S: Would like to be able to use a username and password to listen to your podcasts behind the paywall, on other podcast apps.
