On Thursday, the Indian Army declared it had conducted “surgical strikes” at terrorist launch pads along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The announcement prompted celebrations across the country, especially in the media — on TV as well as Twitter.

Doesn’t look like the Indian Army, does it? Well, it’s not — it’s actually based on a wallpaper of the Heckler and Koch HK416. The German assault rifle is seen in many popular video games such as Counter Strike, and used by many countries across the world including the United States, but not India.
After users pointed out the gaffe, ToI changed the display picture and tweeted out:
Interestingly, Pakistani news channel ARY News used the same picture along with a blog on Operation Zarb-e-Azb against Taliban to pledge its support for the Pakistani Army.
There’s some Aman Ki Asha after all.
