First, his personal mobile number was shared by an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) minister on Twitter. Now, he’s receiving threats on that phone number. No wonder television journalist Deepak Chaurasia ’s wife registered a case at Delhi’s Safdarjung Police Station.

Anasuya Roy, Chaurasia’s wife, has alleged that on the intervening night of September 13-14 between11PM and 4AM, Chaurasia got threat calls and messages from unknown numbers. In the complaint, it is mentioned specifically that the barrage of calls and messages started after AAP leader and Delhi Tourism and Water Resources Minister Kapil Mishra shared the Chaurasia’s phone numbers on Twitter. The minister is not named in the FIR.

Prior to this, in his show on India News, Chaurasia had made Mishra’s phone numbers public. The channel alleges that no representative from AAP had agreed to join a debate on the chikungunya deaths in the capital. It also claims that the phone numbers it made public were already available on the website of the Delhi government.

India News said that it made the numbers public so that its viewers could know that the channel was indeed trying to get in touch with the AAP for its version. It also wanted to make sure that the party couldn’t say later on that no attempt was made to approach it for its view on the turn of events.

According to a report, Mishra later tweeted, giving out Chaurasia’s numbers:

“Dear Dipak Chaurasia you just showed my personal number on your channel. I think this should not be one sided affair so I will share both your numbers. Enjoy.”

The minister also asked his followers to retweet the followers. The tweets were later deleted.
